Two Hundred Dancing Years

The booklet written by Shirley Andrews and Peter Ellis and published by the Australian Bicentennial Authority describes how to celebrate two hundred tears of dancing in Australia by reconstructing an authentic Colonial Ball. The booklet includes a selection of programmes from the 19thC and also suggestions for programmes which include modern bush dancing. Dance instruction and basic dance technique are included.

New Zealand Journal of Physical Education No.15

Published by the Physical Education Society of New Zealand (Inc), Dunedin, July,1958. This issue of the Journal contains an extensive report and analysis of the introduction of SCD into the Physical Education syllabus of Kokopu Primary School, Northland. The report describes the search for suitable dances and music; the progress made and the reaction of the pupils to the learning process. The report ends with a summary of the benefits , both physical and mental, of learning SCD.

A collection of tradition Scottish fiddle music including a tutor and a brief history of each tune. The Introduction contains a biography of the Hardie family of Fiddle makers and brief biographies of Niel and Nathanial Gow, William Marshall, Simon Fraser, J Scott Skinner, and J M Henderson. There is additionally a section entitled "Forms in Traditional Music".

McGill Manuscript

A MS (ca 1752 ) written by John McGill, Dance Master. Includes is a photocopy of "Notes and Queries " Vol 12 July - September 1855 which discusses dance steps with particular reference to this MS

Imperial Book of Scottish Country Dances Volumes 1-3 Combined Edition

Descriptions of dances originally published in three volumes by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Volume 1 1966 contains dances devised by Edna Russell and Jack McConachie. , Volume 2 1971, Volume 3 1977 contain dances which where placed 1-3 in competitions arranged by the ISTD in memory of McConachie. All without music.
