Reel Scottish Dancing

An instructional video which is suitable for both experienced dances and those new to this dance style. The video explains how to dance reels, jigs and strathspeys and includes a helpful commentary. The Steps are walked out and shown in slow motion and the most frequently used formations demonstrated with many walked through. 34 dances which appear frequently on dance programmes are demonstrated.

Grampian Television Interview with Jean Milligan

Part of a Grampian TV series made in the 1970s which traced the origins and development of Scottish Dance. Here Jean Milligan is interviewed by the programme presenter about the origins of the RSCDS. VHS tape quality was poor and this is reflected in the digitised extract. The original programme video recording was destroyed by Grampian TV.

Leaflet and programme, including French newspaper cutting reporting on the participation of the Clan Hay Dancers in the Festival de Nohant. A souvenir booklet for a "Grand Scottish Concert" held in the Usher Hall Edinburgh on 9th August, 1958 in in aid of the Delgatie Castle (Clan Hay Centre) restoration fund. The booklet contains shot histories of Delgatie castle and the Clan Hay.

Anna Marshall's Strathspey

A 32 bar strathspey for 3 couples in a 4 couple set. Devised by Alan Macpherson in 2017 to recognise the contribution of Anna Marshall to the running of the Falkirk Branch Weekend over a period of 25 years. First performed at the 25th anniversary weekend at Crieff Hydro on 19th January 2018. Original tune by Gordon Shand.

Balance and Swing

A personal selection of Square, Contra and Triple time dances in the "New England Tradition" with a tune for each dance. Included is an extensive introduction which gives a historical perspective and a commentary on the New England Tradition on the Boston Area. Appendix 1 grades the dances with regard to suitability and dancer competence. Two other appendices contain a detailed list of suitable recorded music for the dances. Two Hundred Dancing Years

The booklet written by Shirley Andrews and Peter Ellis and published by the Australian Bicentennial Authority describes how to celebrate two hundred tears of dancing in Australia by reconstructing an authentic Colonial Ball. The booklet includes a selection of programmes from the 19thC and also suggestions for programmes which include modern bush dancing. Dance instruction and basic dance technique are included.

Published by the Physical Education Society of New Zealand (Inc), Dunedin, July,1958. This issue of the Journal contains an extensive report and analysis of the introduction of SCD into the Physical Education syllabus of Kokopu Primary School, Northland. The report describes the search for suitable dances and music; the progress made and the reaction of the pupils to the learning process. The report ends with a summary of the benefits , both physical and mental, of learning SCD.
